Nawabshah: 21 school children among 24 dead in road accident

NAWABSHAH: At least 24 people including 21 school children lost their lives in a road accident in Nawabshah on Wednesday.

According to police, the school bus collided with a passenger car while taking a turn on Qazi Ahmed Link Road, killing 15 children along with a teacher.

The incident occurred due to overspeeding, the police added.

The Edhi sources said the school bus was dropping kids to their home when the accident occurred.

The dead and the injured were shifted to Peoples Medical College Hospital in Nawabshah while an investigation wasunderway.

Meanwhile, emergency has been declared in all hospitals of the district.

Following the news on TV channels, frantic parents rushed to the hospital to get information about their children.

Talking to Dunya News, Sindh information minister said all medical facilities will be provided to the injured, adding that the injured will be shifted to Hyderabad if needed.

President Mamnoon Hussain‚ Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat ul Ibad and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah expressed shock over the loss of precious lives in the accident.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain also expressed his grief over the incident.
