Kashmir Council EU Chairman welcomes Pakistan’s FM’s statement on Kashmir














BRUSSELS: Kashmir Council EU Chairman Ali Raza Syed has welcomed the Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar’s statement on Kashmir issue at EU parliament’s foreign affairs committee in Brussels on Monday.

In her address at the committee, the Foreign Minister has said, true representatives of the Kashmiris should be part of the dialogue process on Kashmir issue.

Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, Pakistan Ambassador to Belgium, Member of EU Parliament Sajjad Karim and Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed were also present in the committee’s meeting.


Later on, in his press release, the Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed said that the Kashmiris are masters of their destiny and should be involved in any process that is aimed at finding out an amicable settlement of the Kashmir dispute.


He added, “The main issue is to ensure participation of Kashmiris and real Kashmiri leadership in finding a solution to the issue”.

‘‘We can not achieve peace in the region and durable solution of the problem could not be obtained if participation of the Kashmiris in the dialogue is not ensure,’ he insisted.

Ali Raza Syed said, the lives of people in entire south Asia would continue to remain affected as long as Kashmir issue is not resolved.

“If the issue is not resolved, the lives of the people in the sub continent will not improve. The issue demands urgent attention and resolution, which cannot be sidelined or put in a cold storage”, he said.

“Kashmir issue is a humanitarian issue. It is not a land dispute between the two countries. It is issue of the political fate of the people of Kashmir. Solution of Kashmir issue will pave way for resolution of all other disputes between the two countries India and Pakistan”, he said.

Expressing concern over mass graves in Indian Held Kashmir, Ali Raza Syed called for DNA test of people buried in the graves.
