Why Aamir Khan made Aditya Chopra delay 'Dhoom: 3'

When it comes to 'Dhoom: 3', the surprises just keep on rolling one after another. The makers have released the promo of the new song for the film, featuring lead actor Aamir Khan who plays the role of the thief, Sahir.
Though there's no doubt about Aamir Khan's acting skill, its common knowledge, the actor isn't much of a dancer especially in comparison to Hrithik Roshan, who starred in 'Dhoom 2'.
However, the video features Aamir Khan doing a tap dance solo and boy is he good! Set in some kind of a warehouse, the actor kicks up a dust storm as he moves and shakes to the music.
Known for being extremely particular on getting absolutely right, Mr. Perfectionist as he's so rightly called flew all the way to Australia to learn tap dance from a professional instructor.
Aamir Khan, who was speaking at a conclave hosted by a news channel, said he asked producer Aditya Chopra to delay the film for a year as he wanted to prepare extensively.
"The physical training was really difficult. I had to have a lean but flexible body for my character of gymnast. I had only nine per cent of body fat while doing the film but got relaxed after I finished shooting."
"I remember when Adi asked me about beginning the shoot, I said, 'I will need a year'. He was surprised but now when he watches the film, he realises why I needed that time."
Aamir Khan, who spent two years learning tap-dancing, body building and gymnastics for 'Dhoom 3', said he agreed to do the film because he fell in love with the story which has more emotions this time.
Aamir Khan tweeted the video of one of his tap dance sessions. The actor sure took a lot of pains in perfecting the dance.
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, 'Dhoom: 3' also stars Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra.

Why Aamir Khan will not promote 'Dhoom 3'

Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan is known to think differently when it comes to promoting his films and it is no different this time with 'Dhoom 3' as well.
Unlike the recent promotion strategies of stars, Aamir Khan along with his 'Dhoom 3' team has decided not to take 'Dhoom 3' to Television shows for promotions.
Aamir Khan will not be doing rounds of television shows or visit public places like malls in different cities to promote 'Dhoom 3'. The actor actually wants to rely on trailers and song teasers to do the trick.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh confirmed Aamir Khan's plans by tweeting, "Also, Aamir informs me, he won't be doing rounds of TV shows or visiting malls of cities to promote #Dhoom3. Wants trailers to do the trick."
Aamir Khan and YRF have also decided not to release the entire song on the television for promotions and stick to releasing just a 30 second teaser.
'Dhoom 3' has already created a buzz with superbly performed stunts and recently released teaser of the most expensive song in Bollywood, 'Malang' featuring Katrina Kaif and Aamir Khan.

Aamir Khan: Salman Khan is a bigger star than me

Bollywood perfectionist Aamir Khan said that superstar Salman Khan is a bigger star than him.
The actor, who was speaking at a conclave hosted by a news channel, acknowledged that his 'Andaz Apna Apna' co-star is more popular than him.
Aamir Khan said: "Salman Khan is my friend and also a bigger star than me. I prepare so much but he does not need to do that. He will shake his belt, move his goggles and that's enough for the success of his films. I feel happy about it."
The Khans – Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman – have been ruling Bollywood for the longest time but the actor was of the opinion that while he needs to prepare for a role Salman Khan does not need to do that.
Aamir Khan, who is all set for the release of his action film 'Dhoom: 3' (December 20), revealed that he spent two years learning tap-dancing, body building and gymnastics for the film!
Earlier Salman Khan was to release his home production 'Jai Ho' in December, however it is believed that Salman Khan shifted the date for close friend Aamir Khan to avoid the big clash.
Aamir and Salman have been friends for long however have only worked together in 'Andaaz Apna Apna'. Earlier Aamir Khan had expressed that he would like to work with his friend once again if they came across a good script.

Aamir Khan learns tap dance from Dein Perry for 'Dhoom 3'

Actor Aamir Khan got his lessons in tap dancing from Australian choreographer and renowned dancer Dein Perry for 'Dhoom 3'.
Aamir flew to Australia to learn the dance from Dein who had choreographed the Sydney Olympics opening act and 'Happy Feet 2'.
The actor spent a while in Australia and learnt the dance form with the choreographer's students, mostly in the age group of 10 - 24 years. Aamir had to learn the 'grungy tap' dance which is high on energy and more difficult than the classic tap dance.
"Aamir had visited Dein Perry's academy in Australia to learn the grungy tap dance. After the training was done, the dance team came to India to shoot the song," a 'Dhoom 3' spokesperson said.
In the third installment of 'Dhoom' series, Aamir will be seen as a baddie opposite Katrina Kaif, while Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue to reprise their roles.
Releasing on December 20, 'Dhoom 3' is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra.

Feel guilty for not giving enough time to kids, family: Aamir Khan

Being Bollywood's 'Mr Perfectionist' comes with its own problems as superstar Aamir Khan feels guilty for not being able to spend enough time with his family.
The meticulous star, who prepares extensively before taking up any project and thus ends up doing only one film a year, said he found it difficult to juggle shooting 'Dhoom 3', 'Peekay' and doing research for his TV show 'Satyamev Jayate 2'.
Aamir Khan, 48, and his wife Kiran's son Azad turned two on December 1. Aamir said he would take the child to his shootings so that he could spend more time with him.
"I have always felt that I am not spending enough time with my children and family. I spent 25 years with this guilt. The problem is that I get so lost in my work that I don't realise it. I feel guilty that I am so self-centred. But, I think I am a good father and a good husband," Aamir Khan said on the sidelines of a conclave by a news channel in New Delhi.
The father-of-three said his youngest, Azad, born through surrogacy, has started going to play school now. "We feel blessed to have Azad in our lives. His face lights up our life. Now he has started going to play school but earlier he would not let me leave for work and I would end up taking him on my shoots," he added.
Aamir Khan, who is now gearing up for the release of 'Dhoom 3', said producer Aditya Chopra had to delay the film for a year as he wanted to prepare extensively.
The Khans -- Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman -- have been ruling Bollywood for the longest time but the actor, who avoided taking Shah Rukh's name during the course of discussion, said he does not feel any rivalry from his contemporaries.
"Competition is not in my nature. I feel happy to see a good work like what Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) did in 'Munnabhai' or what Ranbir (Kapoor) did in 'Barfi'. Salman is my friend and also a bigger star than me. I prepare so much but he does not need to do that. He will shake his belt, move his goggles and that's enough for the success of his films. I feel happy about it," the actor said.
Aamir Khan's conflict with Amol Gupte during the making of 'Taare Zameen Par' (2007), which marked his debut as a director, is well known but the actor clarified that he did not take the film away from Gupte as was reported.
"Amol came to me with the script and he wanted to direct it. The six months that I spent with him, I thought he should direct it but when we began shooting within a week, I lost my confidence in him as a director," Aamir Khan said.
"I returned the script to him and said that I will write-off whatever has already been spent because of what I felt. I said I will not be in this film, you can take it to anyone else. But he requested me to direct the film. My conscience is clear. I did what I felt was right," he said.
