Samsung Galaxy S5 rumoured for February after poor S4 sales

Samsung is set to launch the follow-up to the Galaxy S4 in just a few months' time, according to a report out of Korea, after the flagship phone has failed to top its spectacularly popular predecessors.
The Galaxy S5 will launch in February, Korean site ET News reports, quoting an unnamed Samsung official, alongside a refreshed Galaxy Gear 2 smart watch. That's three months earlier than usual for the S series, which is usually shipped in May.
This premature mobile will come in two editions, the report says, with a Galaxy Round-esque curved metal option alongside a cheaper version in the usual plastic. Both will have 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel camera, a huge 4,000mAh battery and run on Android 4.4 KitKat from the get-go.
Samsung did not have any comment on the rumour at time of publication.
Samsung may be keen to cut its losses on the S4, which has suffered along with other high-end smart phone makers as budget Androids have become better and better. Bringing out a new flagship phone in February would certainly make Mobile World Congress interesting, and dominate the show in the same way the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear were by far the biggest deals at IFA back in September.
While the S4 is immensely powerful and has an incredibly good screen, it is superficially very similar to its predecessor, the S3. Android aficionados may have skipped it for the sleek metal of the HTC One, undoubtedly the most stylish phone of the year.
Are you perfectly happy with your S4, or peeved that it may be superseded so soon? What would you like to see in a future flagship from Samsung? Predict the future down in the comments, or over on our future-proof Facebook page.

Samsung eyes 20 megapixels for 2014 smartphone, report says

A report out of Korea suggests that Samsung is already looking beyond the rumored 16-megapixel camera coming to the expected Galaxy S5.

Samsung is indulging in the mobile camera craze, according to a new report.
The handset maker is working on a 20-megapixel camera it'll bundle into mobile devices in the second half of 2014, Korea's ET News is reporting, citing people who claim to have knowledge of the company's plans. It should be noted, however, that ET News has had a bit of a spotty record on Samsung news, so the report should be taken with a grain of salt.
Still, several reports have surfaced over the last several months suggesting Samsung is at work on bigger and better camera technology. Rumors have been swirling that the eventual Galaxy S5 will come with a 16-megapixel camera. Many analysts have predicted that Samsung is planning on a camera bump in its next-generation handsets.
Camera technology is an important component in smartphones. Nearly every major vendor, including LG, Nokia, and Apple, has emphasized aspects of its photographic savvy as a way to separate its phones from the pack. If the ET News report is true, Samsung plans to make its own splash in that space in the next year.
CNET has contacted Samsung for comment on the report. We will update this story when we have more information.

Ajay Devgn or Akshay Kumar: Who will win round four of the box office battle?

Ajay and Akki have often clashed at the box office and it seems they are ready to battle it out once again their upcoming films Action Jackson and Pistol respectively

Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar have come face-to-face at the box office three times. In 2009, Devgn’s All the Best released alongside Khiladi Kumar’s Blue and the former one raced ahead in the number game. In the following year, the two superstars clashed again twice. First Ajay starrer Golmaal 3 clashed with Akshay’s Action Replayy in November and then in December Toonpur Ka Superhero and Tees Maar Khan released on the same date. While Ajay won the November battle, December turned out to be unlucky for both as their films failed to get cash registers ringing. So going by their past track record, the Singham actor has clearly beaten Akshay but we aren’t sure if his success streak will continue in 2014.
Ajay Devgn’s Action Jackson was supposed to release in April with Amitabh Bachchan’s Bhootnath Returns. However, we hear, the Prabhu Dheva film will now hit the screens on May 1, 2014 the same day as Thuppakki remake starring Akshay releases. Though Ajay has outdone the Khiladi of Bollywood twice, technically whenever two titans have clashed at BO, the result has always been good. “There have been enough heavy duty clashes at the BO in the past and the results have been phenomenal for the industry. Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and Sunny Deol’s Gadar released on the same day and we’re blockbusters, Aamir’s Taare Zameen Par came with Akshay’s Welcome and both did really well. Ajay’s Son Of Sardaar clashed with Shahrukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan and again both sailed through” points out exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi.
While we hope this time both the actors enjoy success at the box office, Bollywoodlifers, you tell us which film will be a hit – Action Jackson or the remake of Thuppakki?

Priyanka Chopra, Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor raise the glam quotient of Verve!

The trio triumphs on the cover page of a fashion magazine and we must say they’ve done a great job… yes, Ekta too!

Priyanka Chopra has posed with Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar for the December cover of Verve. This is the magazine’s 18th anniversary issue and we must say that the cover looks as hot as any gorgeous 18-year-old would, though the celebs on the cover are generally rather older.
The Exotic babe looks stunning in a Gaurav Gupta creation. The sheer silver gown aesthetically covers PeeCee’s lady bits and she looks absolutely delicious. Ekta wears a mustard yellow Raakesh Agarvwal gown and boy, she’s never looked so fabulous ever before – wish she would do this kind of thing off-camera too! While these two hotties are a feast for the eyes, KJo looks super stylish and dapper in a three-piece suit. Though Ekta is flashing her pearlies, Priyanka and Karan look intense and somehow dangerous, which makes the cover look even more smokin’ hot! Priyanka’s hairdo and her sexy pout hike this cover to the top of the droolworthy list, hai na?
Wethinks that this is one of the most perfect cover shots of the year. What say you,

Is Deepika Padukone desperate to work with Salman Khan?

While the leggy lass’ camaraderie with King Khan is known to all, there’ve been rumours that she maintains distance from another Khan ‘coz of it. Is that true? Find out!

Deepika Padukone made her debut opposite Shahrukh Khan. Even recently, she delivered a Rs. 200 crore hit, Chennai Express with SRK and we’ll also get to see the same pairing in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. While DP has acted opposite King Khan and is known to share a good rapport with him, the pretty actor has not once shared screen space with Salman Khan. Recently, rumours were rife that Dippy will be seen opposite Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya’s next. However, she has denied such reports and told a popular daily, “I haven’t been approached or met Soorajji, neither have I met Salman recently.”
While the leggy lass won’t be seen in Salman’s next, she really looks forward to work with the Dabangg dude. She said, “I am really looking forward to doing something with Salman because I feel it’s overdue.” This dimpled beauty was initially supposed to debut opposite Sallu but that never materialised and since then her luck to work with him has been jinxed. So, no wonder the babe is looking forward to be casted opposite him…
We wonder if working with Dabangg Khan will spoil her equation with King Khan. Deepika doesn’t feel anything like this is likely to happen and says, “Salman and Shahrukh are fond of me. I don’t think one would have an issue if I worked with the other.”
Well then, after hearing all this from the horses’ mouth, let’s put a rest to all rumours that suggest otherwise. While we are disappointed that DP won’t be seen opposite Salman in Sooraj Barjatya’s next, we can at least hope to see her opposite him in the future. And that though without spoiling her bond with SRK… Fingers crossed and let’s hope Deepika-Salman share screen space soon!
